pcvisit is an established remote support tool from Germany, built for IT service providers, with servers in German data centres. People who look for an alternative anyway usually want one of three things: their own server without running their own Linux virtual machine, sessions with several people and cameras instead of one-to-one support only, or a fully featured client on Linux as well.

How FSRdp Differs from pcvisit

Your own server without a virtual machine

According to its system requirements, pcvisit's own connection server (pcvisit Private Server) runs as an Ubuntu virtual machine under VMware or Hyper-V and calls for Linux administration skills. FSRdp runs directly as a Windows service, as a systemd service on Linux or on a Raspberry Pi 5 behind your own router – and is part of the normal price.

Rooms instead of one-to-one sessions

pcvisit is built for a session between one supporter and one customer, with voice. With FSRdp several participants meet in one room, several cameras run at once, and guests join in the browser without installation – handy when a colleague or the vendor of a specialist application should join.

Fully featured on Linux

On Linux, pcvisit supporters work through the web app. FSRdp comes with an equivalent Linux client for x64 and ARM64, as a Debian package for Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian and Raspberry Pi OS – with sharing, remote control and file transfer.

A predictable price per supporter

FSRdp costs €7 per supporter per month plus VAT, that is €84 a year, one year in advance – your own server and every feature included; your customers and guests need no licence. According to its price list (as of October 2026), pcvisit PROFI costs €199 per user per year. Before you decide, FSRdp runs free for 30 days on your own server.

When pcvisit Remains the Better Choice

FSRdp does not replace every use of pcvisit. Stay with pcvisit if you mainly need the following:

Unattended access. With its Remote Host, pcvisit reaches servers and computers with nobody in front of them. With FSRdp there is always someone at the shared computer who grants remote control themselves.
Time tracking and billing. pcvisit offers time tracking for billable support time. FSRdp logs rooms and joins, but it is not a billing tool.
Remote control of Macs. pcvisit has clients for Windows and macOS. FSRdp has clients for Windows and Linux; on a Mac you join in the browser, but the Mac itself is not remote-controlled.
