The Zoom and Teams Alternative for Remote Support

Zoom and Microsoft Teams are built for meetings. FSRdp is built for hands-on help at the computer – and runs on your own server rather than in a US vendor's cloud.

Many support teams also use Zoom or Teams for remote support because it is already in place. That works, but it has limits: sessions run through the vendor's cloud in the USA, and Teams offers neither screenshots at the click of a button nor sharing just one area of the screen.

How FSRdp Differs from Zoom and Teams

Your server instead of a US cloud

Zoom and Teams run exclusively in their vendors' clouds. FSRdp runs on your own Windows or Linux server, even on a Raspberry Pi. The only exception is the optional live captions: when switched on, room audio is sent to an external speech recognition service.

Built for support

Screenshots at the click of a button, remote control that the sharing person grants deliberately and can revoke at any time, and a shared clipboard between the computers are part of FSRdp's standard feature set.

Share only the area that matters

Teams shares the entire screen or a window. Zoom can share a screen area, and so can FSRdp – with a frame the Windows client remembers per monitor.

Fully featured on Linux and in the browser

On Linux, Teams is available only in the browser. FSRdp comes with an equivalent Linux client for x64 and ARM64, and guests join in the browser without installation.

When Zoom or Teams Remain the Better Choice

Zoom and Teams are built for meetings at scale. Stay with them if you mainly need the following:

Large meetings and webinars. Conferences with very many participants, breakout rooms and webinar features are not what FSRdp is for.
Integration with your office environment. Teams is closely tied to Microsoft 365, Zoom to common calendars. FSRdp is a standalone tool without such integration.
Mobile devices. Zoom and Teams have their own apps for smartphones and tablets. On mobile devices, FSRdp uses the browser.
